Features and Advantages

Microcement creates floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens and furniture with a unique and handmade finish coating suitable for indoors and outdoors. It can be applied on multiple types of surfaces, allowing us to renovate spaces without removing the existing material.

Reaching the balance between hardness and flexibility required in any seamless coating, Microcement ensures a joint-free finish. Mortars are composed by concrete (powder) and resin (liquid) or water.

Advantages: it is the perfect decorative solution to apply over old coatings, thus saving us the hard work of removing the existing material. This is possible thanks to its high bonding strength and low thickness features.

Price per m2 of microcement application

The price per square meter depends on several factors. Contact us to discuss in further detail.

How long does it take to renovate a space?

The application of Microcement requires a firm and clean surface in the first place before laying the thin coats and then protecting them with the sealer. Each layer of Microcement needs to be applied according to the instructions and drying time should be respected. The first week after the application is crucial because this is when Microcement reaches its complete hardness and resilience. The big advantage compared to other materials is that we save a lot of time and effort since the existing materials are not to be removed.

The whole system can be finished in a period of 3-5 five days and the area is walkable after a week.

Hardness and Strength of Microcement

Three essential elements play a key role in the application system: substrate, Microcement and sealer. There are two important factors to be considered as well: mechanical and chemical strength.

Chemical Strength

Stain and liquid resistant: even though the material is very solid, the chemical resistance depends on the sealer since this last coat will make the Microcement waterproof and protect it from stains. Our Top sealer products are known for their high chemical strength.

Mechanical Strength

Crack resistance: even though the material is very solid, the crack resistance depends on the hardness of the substrate. When impacting occurs and the substrate is damaged, the Microcement will suffer transformations due its low thickness, especially on gypsum substrates. If the substrate is damaged because of its poor resistance, Microcement will be damaged too. However, high resistant surfaces such as terrazzo won't be affected.

Abrasion and wear resistance: this resistance depends on the type of Microcement and the sealer. Top Ciment provides two seamless coatings for flooring: Microdeck and Microstone; both are high-abrasion resistant. Microfino is less resistant and therefore more suitable for walls.

Is microcement slip-resistant?

We can transform any surface into a slip resistant one with Microcement. According to the type of Microcement and texture, we will obtain more or less slip resistance. Microstone is perfect for this purpose with a coarse finish, Microdeck has a smoother finish and Microfino is simply not suitable for flooring.

Finishes and textures for flooring

Floors are classified into three types depending on their level of slip resistance. Going from less to more slip-resistant, these types are: class 1, 2 and 3. We can achieve any of the required classes with Top Ciment Microcement. Microdeck belongs to class 1 when sealed with polyurethane, but if glass microspheres are used in the first coat of polyurethane, Microdeck can reach class 2. Microstone belongs to class 3 since this material contains particles thicker than the traditional Microcements. It is also easy to tell the difference between textures at a glance. It is important to consider the slip resistance and the cleaning of the flooring. The more slip resistant the floor is, the more difficult the cleaning will be due to its texture.

Slip Resistant Surface and Cleaning Difficulty

The high slip resistance of the flooring increases the cleaning difficulty due to its texture. Therefore, it is important to measure the slip resistance of the flooring. Microdeck is the perfect choice for most cases where the regulations require class 1. Microstone is more suitable for outdoors surfaces that can be cleaned by hose.

The coarse texture of Microstone for outdoors makes it more difficult to clean. The fine texture of Microdeck for flooring makes it easier to clean.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean Microcement with water and neutral soap and do not use strong cleaning agents. We recommend you to use a shine liquid wax to renovate the floor and avoid using polish machines for this purpose. Liquid waxes can be applied with a mop periodically depending on the frequency of foot traffic. As shown in the picture, tea stains are easily cleaned off with paper towels without any remaining stain or spot. Furniture should have foot stoppers in order to protect the flooring from scratching.
